CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Drake University softball team scored two runs in the first inning to cruise to a 4-0 victory over South Dakota in the 2020 season opener Friday night at the Doc Halverson Dome Classic.
Macy Johnson led Drake at the plate with a 2-for-3 night with an RBI and two runs scored. Mandi Roemmich went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run at the top of the lineup.
In the circle, Nicole Timmons pitched the shutout and gave up just one hit and two walks while striking out 14 of the 24 batters she faced in the complete game.
