BATON ROUGE, La. – The Drake University softball team held Purdue scoreless through five innings in a 3-0 loss before falling to No. 23 LSU, 12-4 in its first two games of the Purple & Gold Challenge at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, La.

Nicole Timmons (2-1) surrendered hits to the first two Boilermakers that came to the plate before striking out three of the next four batters to visit the plate to work out of a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the first.
Addie Lightner led off the second inning with a single to right field and a batter later, Delaney Taylor also singled to right to put runners at the corners.
