DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University softball team claimed two Missouri Valley Conference Softball weekly awards, the MVC office announced on Monday, March 21. Sophomore Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) was named the MVC Pitcher of the Week while freshman Kennedy Frank (Chesterfield, Mo.) was picked the MVC Newcomer of the Week.
Newman had a great week in the circle going 3-1 with a 2.10 earned run average with 32 strikeouts to just eight walks. She allowed eight earned runs on 17 hits in 26.2 innings of work while allowing hitters to bat just .
