LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Drake University rowing team travels to Lawrence, Kan., on Saturday for a controlled scrimmage against the Kansas Jayhawks on the Kansas River.
The teams will race head-to-head in seven total races that feature each team's varsity 8, 2nd varsity 8 and varsity 4 boats. The course distance for each race on the Kansas River will range from 500 meters to 1,250 meters with each team rotating rowers and coxswains in-and-out for each race. The goal is for the teams to try a variety of lineup combinations.
"Saturday is going to be a tune-up for us to find some speed in our lineups as we get closer to our first official completion in a couple of weeks at the Lubbers Cup," said Drake head coach Charlie DiSilvestro.
