Men's Basketball Handed First Home Loss of Season in Overtime

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Both teams made big shots in overtime, but Missouri State knocked down four key free throws at the end and handed the Drake men's basketball team a 65-62 loss at the Knapp Center on Wednesday night (Jan. 18).

The lead changed hands four times in the extra session, with Drake (14-6, 5-4) taking its last lead at 62-61 on Roman Penn's fadeaway jumper from the left baseline with 2:03 left. Alston Mason's two free throws put the Bears (10-9, 6-3) back on top, 63-62, with 1:32 to play.

The Bulldogs had a chance to retake the lead when Darnell Brodie blocked a shot with 40 seconds remaining.
