LINCOLN, Neb. - Drake University senior shattered the Drake record in the mile Saturday afternoon with a time of 4:01.47 at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
Kelly's time bested the previous record, set in 1981 by Chris Mares, by nearly three seconds.
The senior took third in the deep event in which both the first and second place competitors shattered the four-minute mark and broke the meet record.
also turned in a top-10 finish in the event with a personal best of 4:09.12.
In the sprints, finished second in the 200 meters with a personal best of 21.
