DES MOINES, Iowa – Karissa Schweizer, a senior on the University of Missouri track & field team, is returning to the Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee with hopes of etching her name into the Drake Relays record book.
The Urbandale, Iowa, native and Dowling Catholic graduate will compete in the University/College Division 5,000 meters Friday, April 26, at 7:53 p.m. The current record of 15:31.18 was set by Cathy Branta-Easker of Wisconsin in 1985, 11 years before Schweizer was born. Schweizer owns a personal best of 15:18.69 in the event, set last summer at the USA Track & Field Championship.
