AMES, Iowa – Drake University senior Emma Huston (Des Moines, Iowa) shattered the indoor school record in the 5,000 meters Friday night at the Iowa State Classic.
Huston's time of 16:17.30 eclipsed the previous indoor record by more than 17 seconds to finish 10th in the extremely talented field the included competitors from Notre Dame, Stanford, Kansas, Wisconsin and Alabama.
"It's great to see Emma get our school record," said Drake University distance coach Dan Hostager. "That record has been on the books for more than 15 years and this will serve her well heading into our conference championship and the outdoor season.
