Drake University senior Emma Huston (Des Moines, Iowa) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this year, the MVC announced Tuesday, April 5.
Huston, a member of the Drake track and field team, shattered the Bulldogs' 33-year-old school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:06.55 in her heat at the Stanford Invitational on Friday. Her time bested the previous record by nearly 10 seconds and was a 21-second personal best in the event. Her performance is the 17th best in the nation this season, 12th best in the West region and the fastest in the MVC my nearly a full minute.
