ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second time this season, Drake senior Reed Fischer (Minnetonka, Minn.) has been named the Eagle Bank Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced Oct. 4.
Fischer, a member of the Drake cross country team, finished seventh overall and was the sixth scorer at the prestigious Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., on Oct. 1. He finished his first 8k of the year in 23:53.25 against the biggest collegiate field in the history of the Chile Pepper Invitational, featuring runners from 65 teams and 17 states.
