DES MOINES, Iowa -- In its Mental Health Matters game donning green uniforms, the Drake women's soccer team persevered in a thrilling second half to top Southern Illinois, 2-1 at Drake Stadium on Thursday (Sept. 21).

"Credit SIU for making that an exciting game," head coach said. "We saw a very good version of them tonight."

Drake (6-2-2, 2-0 in MVC play) controlled possession for most of the match and outshot Southern Illinois, 8-2 in the first half including three shots on goal, all saved by Saluki keeper Chantelle Symes. At halftime, both teams were scoreless.
