DES MOINES, Iowa. – The Drake women's soccer team took to the pitch for its penultimate game of the regular season on a brisk Fall Sunday afternoon from Mediacom Stadium and came away with an important victory over Evansville, 1-0.
In the first half there was limited action between Drake and Evansville as neither side connected on a goal. Drake held firm on the possession battle and tallied five shots. Evansville, meanwhile, tallied just two shots over the first 45 minutes of play.
The Bulldogs registered a couple of early testers on target from Layla Kelbel in the ninth minute and Ivy Sobel in the 13th minute, but the Purple Aces keeper, Allie Lammers, saved both attempts to keep the score deadlocked at 0-0 by halftime.
