DES MOINES, Iowa - The 107th Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee continued on Thursday with the resumption of the heptathlon and decathlon while competition got underway with high school and university/college division competition. The day closed with the annual Distance Carnival.
To start the day, Heather Miller Koch became the eighth athlete to repeat as the heptathlon champion at the Drake Relays as the Columbus, Wis., native won her second-straight heptathlon with a score of 5,796 points. Miller Koch, who was competing unattached, won four of the seven events (high jump, shot put, 200 and 800) and was runner-up in the other three (100 hurdles, long jump and javelin).
