Ames, Iowa – The Drake volleyball team finished play at the Cardinal & Gold Challenge in Ames this weekend with a win over in-state foe Iowa. The Bulldogs improved to 7-2 overall after taking down the Hawkeyes in four sets (25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19). The loss for Iowa set them back to 3-5 on the 2022 season.
Drake opened the match with five unanswered points including two Macy Daufeldt kills and two Mari Hinkle aces. The Hawkeyes rallied with a 12-1 run of their own to capture the lead. Both teams traded points the rest of the set until Daufeldt delivered the final kill to take the set 25-23.
