DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake women's soccer team defeated Evansville, 1-0, Sunday evening at Drake Stadium.
"We had an interesting week with canceled games and rescheduling, but our players started tonight very focused," said Drake head coach Lindsey Horner. "Our performance was tidy, and we were in complete control to start the game."
In the ninth minute, junior Alison Walls passed to sophomore Delainey Goertzen. Goertzen found senior Hannah Bormann who then scored for the Bulldogs. The goal was the seventh of Bormann's career.
Bormann attempted to score three more times in her 90 minutes on the pitch but was unable to get past Evansville goalkeeper Lauren Fischer.
