ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A pair of Drake throwers swept the men's and women's MVC Field Athlete of the Week awards after strong showings at the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman. Okla. Anthony Barmes collected another weekly award on the men's while Chandler Haight did the same for the women.
Barmes, a sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand, won the hammer throw at John Jacobs Invitational with a toss of 69.01m (226' 5"), good enough for a meet record. He leads the MVC by nearly seven meters (22 feet). Barmes is also ninth in the NCAA, fourth on the West Qualifying list, and second in the Midwest Region.
