DES MOINES, Iowa – Ayo Akinwole, a 6-foot guard, has joined the Drake University men's basketball team, head coach Darian DeVries announced Friday, April 23.
Akinwole is a graduate transfer who played the last four seasons at Omaha. Last season, he averaged 13.0 points per game while leading the Mavericks in assists at 2.9 per game. He also made 45.6 percent of his shots behind the three-point arc while starting all 25 games.
"We are extremely excited about Ayo joining our program," DeVries said. "Ayo's veteran work ethic, character and leadership will fit great with the guys on our team.
