Why Detroit Tigers' Opening Day roster already looks mostly set

With just under three months remaining until Opening Day and still plenty of unsigned free agents left on the market, what better time to begin putting the Detroit Tigers’ 26-man roster into focus?

While the Tigers’ offseason isn’t over — they are still searching for additions to the outfield and pitching staff — the bulk of their free agent spending is likely already committed. Not surprisingly, they prioritized power, signing first baseman C.J. Cron and second baseman Jonathan Schoop to hit in the middle of the order. They found a starting catcher in Austin Romine and a potential swingman on the mound in Rule 5 draft pick Rony Garcia.
