August is a busy month for number retirements, with Tigers greats Jack Morris (Aug. 12) and Alan Trammell (Aug. 26) getting their Nos. 47 and 3 (respectively) put away for good. With that in mind, Free Press sports writer Ryan Ford took a look at the Tigers’ all-time uniform number list to see if he could pick the best Tiger to wear each number in franchise history. (In cases where players wore multiple numbers, we tried to go with the number they played the best and/or most in.)
