DETROIT -- Justin Upton was pretty sure that the side of his foot clipped the side of first base.
But this is the replay era, and Upton was concerned about how his near-miss might look on video.
So after hitting the first of his two home runs on Friday night, the Detroit Tigers left fielder decided to err on the side of caution.
Upton put up one finger to third base coach Dave Clark, as if to say, "Give me just a second. I need to do something." Then he retraced his steps back to first base and tagged it again just to be sure.
