Victor Martinez released from hospital, will stay in Detroit for monitoring

DETROIT -- Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez was released from the hospital Saturday morning after spending two nights there with an irregular heartbeat.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Martinez would stay in Detroit and undergo monitoring for the next 7-10 days. The Tigers leave for a West coast road trip after Sunday afternoon's game.

The Tigers placed Martinez on the 10-day disabled list on Friday.

Martinez experienced sweating, chills and dizziness in Thursday's game. He was removed for a pinch-runner in the seventh inning after indicating to first base coach Omar Vizquel that he needed to be removed.
