Veteran pitcher Edwin Jackson rejoins Tigers on minor-league deal

Detroit — The Tigers have been in desperate straits with its starting rotation most of the season, and with the likelihood of having to shut down Daniel Norris and Spencer Turnbull by September because of innings limits, they've called in a reinforcement.

On Monday, they signed veteran right-hander Edwin Jackson to a minor-league contract.

Jackson, who will be 36 in September, was an All-Star with the Tigers in 2009. But over his 17-year career, they were just one of the 14 teams he’s pitched for.
