V-Mart released from hospital

Victor Martinez was released from a local hospital Saturday morning after spending two nights under observation for an irregular heartbeat.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he traded text messages with his veteran hitter Saturday morning as he was leaving the hospital. Martinez told him he was feeling much better than when he was admitted Thursday night after leaving the Tigers’ win over the Rays with an accelerated heartbeat and cold sweats.

Martinez will remain in the Detroit area while the Tigers are on their West Coast trip next week. He’ll be monitored for the next 7–10 days, according to Ausmus.
