Tigers rely on full cast to get job done in 13th

Detroit — Finally, it ended.

In a game that seemed it would never end Tuesday, the Tigers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 8-7 in 13 long innings.

A Rajai Davis sacrifice fly brought home James McCann, who opened the 13th with a single, and ended the 5-hour marathon.

"You don't want to lose those games," said Davis of extra inning games such as Tuesday's. "You play, exert all that energy, you expect to win. We came back, we were down, we fought and got the lead, we expect to win that game."

Kyle Ryan, the 10th pitcher the Tigers used Tuesday, earned the victory (2-3).
