CHICAGO -- The first bullpen move of the Tigers' season came quickly, but it was planned. Left-hander Kyle Ryan was headed to the paternity leave list following Tuesday's rescheduled season opener against the White Sox, with Blaine Hardy recalled from Triple-A Toledo to take his place.
It's a move the Tigers knew was coming since last week, as Ryan and his wife, Courtney, await their first child. They live together just outside of Lakeland, Fla., so she remained back in Florida when the Tigers broke camp last week. Courtney was originally due to give birth a week or two ago but will undergo a cesarean section on Wednesday.
