An infield single by Mike Aviles with the bases loaded in the eighth inning proved to be the difference for the Detroit Tigers tonight.
The teams were tied, 2-2, before Aviles’ RBI single. The Tigers added another run in the inning and went on to beat the Seattle Mariners, 4-2, at Comerica Park.
With one out in the eighth, Victor Martinez singled to left and went to third on a double to center by Nick Castellanos.
The Tigers inserted Andrew Romine as a pinch runner for Martinez and the Mariners intentionally walked Justin Upton to load the bases.
