Outfield prospect Daniel Fields was designated for assignment on Tuesday to make room on the 40-man roster for infielder Josh Wilson.
Wilson's contract was purchased from Triple-A Toledo, where he had been hitting .252 (66-for-262) with three home runs and 30 RBI.
The Tigers also recalled left-handed pitcher Ian Krol, infielder Jefry Marte and outfielder Steven Moya from the Mud Hens. Moya was hitting .240 with 20 home runs and 74 RBI in Toledo.
Fields, 24, is expected to sign as a minor league free agent with another organization.
Fields at one time was considered one of the most promising prospects in the Tigers organization.
