The Detroit Tigers placed right-hander Jordan Zimmermann on the injured list Monday with a right cervical spasm, and activated right-hander Spencer Turnbull to start Monday night's game against the Chicago White Sox.
The Tigers also recalled right-handed reliever Eduardo Jimenez, who was optioned following Sunday's game in Texas, and activated right-handed reliever Victor Alcantara, who was then optioned to Triple-A Toledo.
Zimmermann, 33, is 1-8 with a 7.13 ERA, earning his first victory of the season July 29 against the Los Angeles Angels.
