The Detroit Tigers placed starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez on the restricted list as he deals with personal matters, general manager Al Avila said in a statement Monday.
Rodriguez has been on the injured list with a ribcage injury.
"Eduardo Rodríguez has informed the Club that due to personal matters he will not rejoin the team at this time,” Avila said in a statement. “As a result, Eduardo has been placed on the restricted list until further notice."
Signed as a free agent in the offseason after six seasons with the Boston Red Sox, the left-handed Rodriguez has made eight starts this season, going 1-3 with a 4.
