Tigers part of highest-scoring night in 129 years of Major League Baseball

New York – Major League Baseball had a night of offense not seen in 129 years, with 12 teams scoring double-digit runs including the Tigers losing to the Royals, 11-10.

Twelve teams tied May 30, 1884, for the second-most in one day, trailing only 13 on July 4, 1894, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

The Tigers were one of three 11-10 games, with San Francisco beating Cincinnati 11-10 and the New York Mets topping the Chicago White Sox 11-10.

In the Detroit game, the two teams combined for 24 hits and two homers by Spencer Torkelson.
