After five seasons in the organization, Akil Baddoo's time with the Detroit Tigers may finally be coming to an end.
A once-beloved fan favorite who hit a home run in hist first Major League at-bat with the Tigers in 2021, Baddoo has elected free agency for the first time in his career, according to the transactions log on his roster page.
The 27-year-old outfielder had a 2.1 WAR and a 116 OPS+ in 124 games as a rookie with the Tigers in 2021. Every year after that, however, he was sent down to Triple-A Toledo at least once, never playing more than 112 games or putting together another league-average offensive season in the Majors.
