Tigers’ Michael Fulmer recommended to undergo Tommy John surgery

Well, this isn’t good. Michael Fulmer was diagnosed with right elbow ligament damage and has been recommended for Tommy John surgery by Dr. James Andrews, the club announced on Tuesday. He will seek another opinion, but the writing is probably on the wall; unless he decides on a conservative rehab or the less invasive procedure Seth Maness underwent a couple years ago, Fulmer will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the entire 2019 season.

Regardless of where they are projected to finish in the standings, this is a huge blow for the Tigers.
