Tigers lose two leads after Zimm loses no-no

NEW YORK -- The Tigers were one strike away from escaping the eighth inning with a one-run lead, but a controversial check-swing call led to the bases being loaded rather than ending the inning, and that opened the door for the Yankees' offense, leading New York to a 7-5 victory over Detroit on Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

With two outs and two on, Joe Jimenez threw an 87.1-mph slider in the dirt to Luke Voit on a 3-2 count. First-base umpire Paul Nauert said Voit did not swing and Voit was awarded first base.
