Detroit — It’s going in the books as another loss for Matthew Boyd, his 11th. And there will be more chatter about the home run ball — he gave up two more in a 10-4 loss to the Yankees in Game 1 of the doubleheader Thursday.

Boyd has allowed 38 home runs this season, most in the majors, and he is four short of the Tigers’ club record of 42 set by Denny McLain in 1966.

But this was, in many ways, an impressive outing for the Tigers’ ace.
