Tigers Gameday: Matt Boyd looks to continue to impress in televised start vs. Braves

LAKELAND, Fla. - Justin Verlander kept his string of strong spring-training starts going. Now it's Matt Boyd's turn.

The left-hander will make his fifth Grapefruit League start and sixth appearance as the Detroit Tigers host the Atlanta Braves Friday afternoon after the teams met Thursday night in Kissimmee. This will be Boyd's first appearance at Joker Marchant Stadium this spring.

Boyd, who is trying to secure a spot at the back of the Tigers' rotation, has been impressive throughout spring training and especially of late. In his last three appearances, Boyd has allowed only two runs total and struck out 13 in as many innings of work.
