After more than two seasons' worth of injuries continued to damage his value, former top pitching prospect Wilmer Flores was released by the Detroit Tigers last Thursday – the same day he was activated off the 60-day injured list.
Flores, who was on the roster at Triple-A Toldeo, had missed the entire season with a shoulder injury. He was deemed healthy after completing five rehab appearances in which he posted a 2.25 ERA through four innings with two hits allowed and one run. He is now a free agent, eligible to sign with any other Major League team, though the deadline for postseason eligibility has passed.
