The Tigers have yet to make the first move of their trade deadline season, which is forecasted to be a lot more underwhelming than fans are hoping, but it's never a bad time to laugh at other team's mistakes and breathe sighs of relief when undesirable trade candidates come off the board.
On Friday afternoon, Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon was shipped off to the New York Yankees in exchange for two prospects, including No. 8-ranked pitcher Griffin Herring. The Tigers were loosely connected to McMahon as a potential solution for their eternal third base problem. But Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press shut that down on Friday morning, so now it's easy to laugh at the Yankees for massively overpaying for a player who can't even hit very well at Coors Field.
