Tigers can’t keep pace with Royals' bats; Cabrera exits early

Kansas City, Mo. — Maybe it was some residual effect from the tornado that ripped through the state of Kansas on Wednesday, who knows? But the baseball was flying around Kauffman Stadium Thursday afternoon.

The Royals bashed three home runs — two of them well over 400 feet — and outslugged the Tigers 10-6 in the first of a four-game series.

Of perhaps more significance to the Tigers, Miguel Cabrera was removed from the lineup after he singled in the sixth inning. The Tigers reported he was pulled because of a strain in his right hamstring.
