KANSAS CITY -- Miguel Cabrera's return to the Tigers lineup didn't last long, but the Thursday matinee in which he played did. Jeimer Candelario hit a two-run double and Nicholas Castellanos added a solo homer and two RBIs, but the Tigers couldn't keep pace with the Royals' offense, falling 10-6 in the series opener at Kauffman Stadium.
A day after the Tigers outlasted the Rays in a 12-inning pitchers' duel, they found themselves in the opposite type of game. Both teams scored in every inning from the third through the sixth, and they scored the same number of runs from the second through the fifth.
