CINCINNATI -- The Detroit Tigers have recalled right-handed reliever Johnny Barbato from Triple-A Toledo.
Barbato takes the spot of Drew VerHagen, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list after suffering a broken nose Tuesday night.

Barbato pitched one inning Tuesday night for the Mud Hens in Georgia. He took a shuttle to the Atlanta airport at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday to catch a 7 a.
