Tigers' Báez ties game in the ninth, but Orioles take opener with walk-off win

Baltimore – The fans at Camden Yards were chanting "Over-rated, over-rated," during Javier Báez's at-bats Friday night.

But with the Tigers down to their last strike in the ninth inning, against Orioles right-hander Felix Bautista who was throwing 102-mph heaters and 90-mph splitters, Báez delivered a clutch, two-out single to score Akil Baddoo from second base, tying the game 1-1.

Alas, the moment was short-lived for the Tigers. Base hits by Ryan Mountcastle and Anthony Santander off Jason Foley in the bottom of the ninth set up a walk-off, RBI ground out by Adam Frazier and the Orioles prevailed 2-1 in the third of a three-game set.
