VIERA, Fla. -- It's one step, but Anibal Sanchez is back on the road to recovery.
Sanchez, the Detroit Tigers' right-handed pitcher, tossed 25 pitches in a bullpen session Saturday in Lakeland, manager Brad Ausmus said.
It was the first time he's thrown since being diagnosed with inflammation in his right triceps muscle. Sanchez was scheduled to throw on Friday but was sent home after complaining of bronchial issues.
"He said his arm felt good," Ausmus said. "He's still a little congested but he threw it anyways. No inflammation, nothing."
Next on the docket, Ausmus said, is to have Sanchez toss another bullpen, maybe a live batting practice, before he can make his a start in spring training.
