Baltimore — You figured something had to give in this series. One of the American League’s worst-hitting teams (the Tigers) against one its worst-pitching teams (the Orioles).
And, what do you know, it was nearly a standstill. Until the Tigers unleashed some late power against the Orioles bullpen and came away with a 4-2 win Wednesday, taking two of three in the series.
With the Tigers down 2-1 in the eighth, John Hicks, who had been in a 2-for-30 funk, walloped a 432-foot home run into the second deck in left field to tie the score off recently deposed Orioles' closer Mychal Givens.
