DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers committed three errors and had two other significant misplays in the field, falling to the Kansas City Royals 4-3 in a sloppy night of baseball Friday at Comerica Park.
The tone was set in an ugly first inning.
Adalberto Mondesi reached base when Tigers second baseman Dawel Lugo booted a hard grounder. He scored all the way from first base on a bloop single by Alex Gordon thanks to aggressive baserunning and a lackadaisical throw from left fielder Christin Stewart.
Stewart was charged with an error in the fourth when he kicked around a ball in the left field corner.
