Reininger roughed up in first big-league start, Tigers fall to Indians

Cleveland — Before the game, manager Ron Gardenhire was asked what his expectations were for Zac Reininger, who was making his first major league start subbing for Matthew Boyd.

“We’d be happy to get three innings,” he said. “Anything less than that would probably not be that fun. Anything more would be really good.”

'Not that fun' won out.

Reininger, who was pulled after the first two hitters in the third inning reached base, ended up being charged for four runs and the Cleveland Indians continued their dominance over the Tigers, winning the first game of this three-game set, 7-2.
