Presley nears baseball-related activity

BALTIMORE -- Alex Presley has spent 10 days on the 10-day disabled list, but the outfielder is not ready to return to the Tigers just yet. He is, however, starting to partake in baseball-related activities.

"He's been swinging," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "He didn't take [batting practice] on the field [on Friday]. He has started swinging, though."

Ausmus said he expected Presley to take batting practice on the field on Saturday in Baltimore.

The Tigers do not need to rush Presley, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list on July 29 (retroactive to July 27) for a right side strain, as both Andrew Romine and Jim Adduci have been taking his place until he is ready to rejoin his team.
