Pico back as Toledo pitching coach; Tigers unsure on Farmer’s future

The Detroit Tigers are very happy that Jeff Pico will be back as the pitching coach at Triple-A Toledo.

When the Mud Hens’ season ended, Pico and then-Toledo manager Lloyd McClendon came to Detroit to help out at the end of last season. It wasn’t simply a matter of convenience.

McClendon has since replaced Wally Joyner as hitting coach.

Asked about Pico before it was announced that he would be returning to the Mud Hens, assistant general manager David Chadd raved about him: “He didn’t get enough credit. I thought he did a tremendous job. Obviously, Lloyd can speak more about him, he was with him every day.
