Offense goes quiet, Verlander's control issues linger as Tigers end West Coast trip 4-5

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Detroit Tigers left Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Sunday afternoon, hopped on a big bus and headed to Long Beach Airport for a long flight home.

They came to the West Coast 10 days ago, faced with their toughest early-season test, a road trip through Oakland and Phoenix and Anaheim, which has been none too kind to them in years past. They split the first eight games. They had their ace on the mound for the finale. But they played like they couldn’t wait to get home and lost to the Los Angeles Angels, 4-1.
