MINNEAPOLIS -- The Detroit Tigers placed Miguel Cabrera on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with a strained right groin.
They recalled catcher/first baseman John Hicks from Triple-A Toledo to take Cabrera's spot. Hicks is expected to start at first in Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins.

Joe Jimenez stumbles, but Justin Verlander says loss is 'all on me'
"I put that kid in a tough spot. I've got to be better," Verlander said.
Cabrera suffered the injury Friday night when he dove to his right to try to knock down a base hit off the bat of Robbie Grossman in the sixth inning.
