McCann exits with intercostal spasm

DETROIT -- The Tigers' spat of injury woes added catcher James McCann, who left Sunday's series finale against the Blue Jays after sustaining what the team called a left-sided intercostal spasm.

McCann caught the first six innings of Michael Fulmer's start and did not have any notable incident that denoted an injury. However, John Hicks was behind the plate for Fulmer when the seventh inning began.

The injury could put the Tigers in a catching bind for Monday's day-night doubleheader against the Yankees.
